ehh.. its alright

i was surprised at what this book was really like because of the amazing reviews it has received. i assumed it would more of an indepth look into pet care/nutrition. needless to say.. i was pretty disappointed. if someone was interested in how to care for a pet for the first time then yeah, i would say this book is fine to read because this is more of a brief informational guide. but i would never recommend this to anyone that already has a clue on how to care for a pet.
Dog care

Helped us to move away from dry dog food to home-prepared food. Dogs are already looking better for it.
Complete guide to Natural health for dogs and cats

This book is invaluable to me. It's a must for any pet owner dog or cat. It is mostly based on homeopathy based treatments by Dr Pitcairn the worlds leading veterinarian. It has helped me with my own dogs numerous times in emergency situations as well as with chronic conditions.

I have had clients phone me asking advice from me as I have learned so much from reading this book and using it as a quick reference. This can make the difference you need in a moment that your pet is injured and going to the vet. It also contains use full information on BARF diets for cats and dogs.
Best, most complete canine nutrition reference book on my shelf

Checked this one out of the library so many times, I finally bought my own copy. It is used daily.
Recipies and Diet are off base

I like this book. So much so that I lend it out to friends in need. I even have two copies.
But the recipes with grains, and the lack of understand of the benefits of a raw diet are disappointing. The author has a lot more work to do in this regard. And I hope to see a much more accurate depiction of the raw diet and its benefits in a future edition.
I have fed my dogs raw, and many of my friends and neighbors have benefited from feeding their once ill pets raw.
I even tried vegetarian for my dogs with disastrous results. I used to be vegan, so I thought it was a good, green idea. But alas, the physiology of canis deserves to feed raw. Raw meat that is.
